Semiratruth is an emcee/producer from Chicago who has been releasing music for the past five years. Her last album, I Got Bandz for the Moon Landin’, came out just about a year ago. Earlier this year, you might have heard her on the excellent Rich Jones & Iceberg Theory album, Smoke Detector. Now she has teamed up with Brooklyn producer JWords to drop a new EP, loading… JWords is a Brooklyn artist who has been making some noise in the past couple of years, producing some great experimental hip hop and electronic beats for artists like Nappy Nina, working in the group H31r, and dropping some progressive solo projects as well.

Royce Wood Junior is a producer/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist from London who started releasing music about ten years ago. He made a splash last year when he teamed up with Portland, Oregon label Fresh Selects to release his sophomore full-length album, No Two Blue Ticks. After sitting with it for a little bit, Wood and Fresh Selects decided that the material that was left on the cutting room floor for that album was too good just to leave in the vault, so now we get the companion EP of unreleased material, Two Ticks Loose Bits.

Jesse the Tree is an emcee from Providence who has been releasing music for about five years. He came on a lot of people’s radar in 2021, thanks to guest appearances on projects by Mopes and ALXNDRBRWN. He also made an appearance on Myles Bullen’s Mourning Travels, which came out in February of this year. Now he’s cashing in on that momentum by releasing his first full-length album for Strange Famous, Pigeon Man.

Memphis Reigns is a Bay Area emcee who is been at this for about two decades now. For all of his longevity, he remains as busy and hungry as ever. Just this past July, he dropped Reign Clouds with QM, and then turned right around and released a collaborative project with Sankofa, Harikuma’s Revenge, in August. Now he’s right back with a solo EP, Gumiho. For Gumiho EP, Memphis Reigns is working with producers TAEHWAN and Lamaj, before turning it over to Remshot to remix four of the five tracks on the EP.

Shitao is a producer from Paris whose career goes back over fifteen years. He’s given us a lot of different projects in the time. Most recently, he’s given us movie scores like Waves, or concept albums like Mono. This past May, Shitao went back into his vault, and gave us a collection of unreleased material, Alone, sometimes even not alone (2008-2022 part.1). As indicated by that title, it is now time for the second volume, Memory to push back the past (2008-2022 part.

Justo the MC is a New York artist who has been around for over a decade, but his career really started to find its feet when he linked up with producer maticulous back in 2019 to release the album Mind of a Man. It worked so well that they turned right back around and released another LP, County of Kings. After switching gears and working with Remulak on an album, Justo has once again paired up with maticulous to give us Three.

Chants is a producer from Madison who has been releasing music for ten years, with projects on Hush Hush, Astral Plane, and Dutty Artz. His most recent project came out in summer of 2021, when he released Quintuple Helix EP. Now he’s back with a new project on a new label, LRL001. Limited Resources Label is a new record label in Wisconsin, launched with an unusual mission statement: “The goal of LRL is to solicit music from producers based on a prompt or set of rules, to free them from the potentially limitless options of modern DAWs and from their usual processes and expectations.

Deep is a producer from New York who makes up half of the production duo 2 Hungry Bros. Over the years, they’ve worked with artists like PremRock, Likwid, and P.SO The Earth Tone King, just to name a few. As a solo artist, Deep has teamed up with RedBaren 907 on a project, as well as releasing instrumental projects like his Depth Perception and Theology series of releases. For his latest release, he reaches back to his early days and gives us a vocal collaboration album, What Dads Listen To.

Psalm One is an artist originally from Chicago but based in the Twin Cities these days. She’s been around for a minute, making her debut in the mid-‘00s before hitting her stride in the 2010s with solo albums like P.O.L.Y. and rocking with her group, Rapperchicks. In 2020, Psalm One and Angel Davanport of Rapperchicks reformed as a duo, Big $ilky, and they have released three EPs to date. After all that, it was time for Psalm One to come back with a new solo album, this time teaming up with producer Custom Made to deliver Bigg Perrm.

Rollie Pemberton is better known to all of us as Cadence Weapon, the hip hop artist originally from Edmonton who had been releasing music since the mid-‘00s, and who just won the Polaris Prize for his 2021 album, Parallel World. Now he adds the new title to his resume of author as he now delivers his memoir, Bedroom Rapper: Cadence Weapon on Hip-Hop, Resistance, and Surviving the Music Industry. In a lot of ways, it feels like Cadence Weapon is just now hitting his stride as a musician, but the truth is that he’s been at this for a while.
