The Mighty Rhino - To Relieve the Sorrow-Laden Heart

The Mighty Rhino is an emcee from Toronto who got started back in 2011, with the release of his debut solo album, He Whom the Beat Sets Free is Free Indeed. However, for various reasons, it wasn’t until 2018, when Rhino finally released his sophomore album, We Will No Longer Retreat Into Darkness, that his career really gained it’s footing, and since that time he’s released another solo album, and EP, and made several guest appearances.

Wool See - Cope Money

Wool See is the alias of Vermont artist IAME, one that he debuted in the mid-2010s as a way to explore a more experimental one-man-band hip hop/synth pop sound. The last time we heard from Wool See was last Halloween, when he dropped Wooloween Vol. 3, an instrumental release based on horror movie sample flips. Now he’s back with a more typical Wool See release, Cope Money. As you make your way through Cope Money, you can both see Wool See’s rootas and the ways in which he continues to evolve as an artist.

Lava La Rue - Hi-Fidelity

Lava La Rue is an artist from London who made their recording debut in the mid-2010s. However, it was just last year when they had a breakthrough with the release of their EP Butter-fly on Marathon. Now they are right back with another impressive EP, Hi-Fidelity. Alsace Carcione - Luto

Alsace Carcione is an artist from Dallas who started releasing music in the late 2000s. While there have been singles spread out over the last several years, it’s actually been seven years since her last full-length album, Cryptic Conundrum. Now the wait is finally over as Alsace Carcione delivers a brand new album, Luto. “Luto” is a word that in Portuguese means “mourning” or “sorrow.” As you dig into this album, it becomes apparent pretty quickly that this is an album about dealing with loss, trauma, and the healing process that follows.

Moka Only - Summer 2002 Vol. 1

Moka Only is a legend of the Vancouver hip hop scene, getting started in the mid-‘90s and working at a prolific pace up until the present day. One of the amazing things about the rate at which he works is that for all the tons of music that he’s already released, there is still plenty that never saw the light of day. Case in point, while we wait for the next new LP, Moka has gone back into the vaults to give us Summer 2002 Vol.

Kaidi Tatham - Don't Rush the Process

Kaidi Tatham is an artist from Belfast who has been active since the ‘90s, first becoming well known for his work with groups like Bugz in the Attic and The Herbaliser. Buttering Trio - Foursome

Buttering Trio is a group from Tel Aviv Yafo, Israel, who have now been releasing music for over a decade. That said, it has been six years since their last full-length album, Threesome. Well, the wait is finally over with the release of Foursome.

Along the way, he’s worked with everyone from J Dilla and Madlib to Eric Lau, Small Professor, and Black Milk, just to name a few. Most recently, he worked with producer Gensu Dean to release the album EGO, which came out last year. Now he’s back with a new project, Guilt.

Moderator - In the Garden

Moderator is a producer from Greece who has been releasing music since the mid-2010s. His most recent album came just last year, when he gave us Midnight Madness. Now he’s back with an EP for the French label Hip Dozer, In the Garden. While other projects in Moderator’s catalogue might be grander in vision or more experimental in their approach, In the Garden is a much more straightforward project. Not that there is anything wrong with that, as Moderator delivers seven jazzy laidback downtempo tracks that are instantly enjoyable.

The Koreatown Oddity - ISTHISFORREAL?

The Koreatown Oddity is an artist from Los Angeles who has been releasing music for a decade. He made his Stones Throw debut in 2017 with Finna Be Past Tense. He had a real breakthrough in 2020, when he released his most personal album to date, Little Dominique’s Nosebleed. Now he’s back with a different sort of project, ISTHISFORREAL? Little Dominique’s Nosebleed was a deeply personal and straightforward album that was easy to listen to and feel like you knew The Koreatown Oddity a lot better after listening to that.
