Joshua Virtue - RAMA

Joshua Virtue is a relatively new artist from Chicago, releasing their first album just back in 2019. Since that time, Virtue has worked a prolific pace and shown a lot of growth and an adventurous spirit that is afraid of some experimentation within hip hop, with projects like Together, With Great Feeling and Moon. On top of this, Virtue has also released two projects with Davis under the name UDABABY, and a few more with Ruby Watson under the name Free Snacks.

Handbook - Glint

Handbook is a producer from York who has been releasing music for over a decade. Throughout that time, he’s worked with artists like Supreme Sol, and he’s put out a lot of interesting instrumental music as well on labels like Cascade, Inner Ocean, and Hip Dozer. His most recent project was part of Ian Urbina’s Outlaw Ocean-inspired series of releases on Synethesia Music, Blurred Horizons. Now he’s back and making his debut on Loci with a new album, Glint.

Charlotte Dos Santos - Morfo

Charlotte Dos Santos is an artist originally from Norway, but now based in Berlin. She made her debut with Fresh Selects in 2017 with the release of her album Cleo. In 2020, she made her debut on Because Music with the EP Harvest Time. Now she returns with a new full-length album, Morfo. Dos Santos originally began working on this album at the beginning of the pandemic under the title of Metamorphosis.

miles cooke - i used to feel things

miles cooke is an artist who is a relative newcomer to the NYC indie hip hop scene. Fortunately, he found his way to The Karma Kids, who have welcomed him into their crew and have helped him release his debut album, which is now here in the form of i used to feel things. miles cooke is a fairly new artist, but you wouldn’t know that from listening to i used to feel things.

Short Fuze - The Painkiller Boutique

Short Fuze is an emcee from Chicago who has been working with Uncommon Nasa since 2010. They already had a few projects under their belts before they officially became Guillotine Crowns in 2020 with the release of their album, The First Stand. They released their latest album, Hills To Die On, just this past April. Now Short Fuze comes back with a true solo album, The Painkiller Boutique. It’s not often that when an artist has been around as long as Short Fuze has, with all these different projects under his belt, can come out with an album like The Painkiller Boutique and make you feel like you’re being introduced to them for the first time.

Mood Patrol - Mood Patrol

When Flagstaff label Fang Over Fist Records put out a sampler this past summer called Recollections, there was plenty of great hip hop and beyond to be found on the compilation. A lot of the tracks were familiar names to those that follow the label, such as An Illustrated Mess and Tre Orona. There was one name on the track list, however, that most people didn’t know - Mood Patrol, who performed the song “Goku.

Open Mike Eagle - a tape called component system with the auto reverse

Open Mike Eagle had one of the strongest runs in all of hip hop over the course of the 2010s, culminating in two standout albums, 2017’s, Brick Body Kids Still Daydream, and then 2020’s Anime, Trauma and Divorce. Especially coming on the heels of his most personal album to date, everyone had been wondering where he goes from there. The answer is now here, as he drops his newest full-length album, a tape called component system with the auto reverse.

ill-sugi - Brown Eye Chart

ill-sugi is a producer from Japan who has been releasing music for over a decade now. In that time, he’s collaborated with the likes of Fitz Ambro$e, Dregs One, Bugseed, and Brycon, just to name a few. His most recent release came back in February, when he dropped WAV MECHANICAL. Now he’s back with a new project, Brown Eye Chart. If you’ve ever wondered how ill-sugi became this internationally known, sought-out producer, Brown Eye Chart is a great place to start.

Happy Tooth - Done Suffering

Happy Tooth is an artist from Columbus, Ohio. He has been releasing music for about ten years, often working with fellow Columbus artist Dug as a duo. Last year, those two also linked up with a collective of artists in the PNW called R4PC4MP to release an album called Just Outside America’s Test Market. On top of that, Happy tooth also gave us an excellent solo album as well called The Laughter’s Rehearsed.

Memphis Reigns & Kid Forever - Track Record

Bay Area emcee Memphis Reigns has been having a busy 2022. In June, he released an album with QM called Reign Clouds. He then came right back in August with an EP with Sankofa called Harikum’s Revenge. He then came back in September with a solo EP, Gumiho. Still not done, he’s right back in October with a collaborative EP with Portland producer Kid Forever, Track Record. Kid Forever isn’t that well known yet, with just one beat tape to his name, but when you listen to Track Record, you’ll quickly understand why Memphis Reigns wanted to work with him.
