Soultru - The Truth: An Acoustic EP

Soultru is an artist from Davenport, Iowa that has been putting out music for about the last five years, mixing together neo-soul and underground hip hop along the way. Nowhere was this more apparent than on his last release, 2018’s collaboration with producer Progeny, simply titled Soultru & Progeny. Now he’s back and shifting things in a different direction with The Truth: An Acoustic EP. As you might have inferred from the title, this EP is a collection of stripped down acoustic tracks from Soultru.

The Twilite Tone - The Clearing

The Twilite Tone might not be a name that you are familiar with, but Chicago artist Anthony Khan has been working in music since the ‘80s, first getting started as Common’s deejay, and ultimately co-producing his first album, Can I Borrow a Dollar? Since that time, he’s worked with everyone from Rahzel to John Legend to Gorillaz, just to name a few. Now, after all this time, he’s finally stepping out and releasing his debut solo album, The Clearing.

Daniel (Mathematician) - Eat Good

Daniel (Mathematician) is a 23-year-old producer out of Houston. Despite his young age, he’s been actively making beats and putting out projects for the last four years, the most recent coming just this past April, when he released Music To Listen and Work. Now he’s back with a new beat tape, Eat Good. While the title of the project and track titles such as “Rangoon,” “Mushrooms,” and “Wine,” might all suggest there is a food theme to the music, you won’t find it obviously spelled out for you in the beats themselves.

Lnrd d$troy - No Mondays in Paradise

Lnrd d$troy is a producer from Kansas City who has been at this for the better part of two decades. On top of his own solo career, he’s produced for everyone from Mac Lethal to Joey Cool. Just this past February, he gave us a project called All City Vol. 1-3, a soundtrack to a web series d$troy created about the graffiti scence in KC. Now he’s switching up gears once again to deliver No Mondays in Paradise.

Day Tripper - Langford Landscapes

Day Tripper is an Atlanta-based producer best known for his work in groups like Clan Destined and The Difference Machine. While most of his work has been for his various groups and other artists, Full Plate knew what else he had up his sleeve, and now present his solo instrumental album, Langford Landscapes. While Day Tripper has been around for a minute, he hasn’t released a lot of instrumental music in the past, so it was a little bit of anybody’s guess as to what Langford Landscapes might sound like.

Hives Inquiry Squad - Open Mind Sessions: Part 2

Portland, Oregon artist Lucas Dix has been part of a lot of different projects under different names over the years, whether it be Claude Six, BCxLD, R4PC4MP, or Jellyfish Brigade, just to name a few. Way back when, we he first moved to Oregon from Wisconsin as a young man, he did so with friend and collaborator Gavin Theory. Together they performed under the name of Hives Inquiry Squad. Unfortunately, their window of friendship and music was tragically cut short when Theory passed away in 2012.

Buscrates - Blasting Off

Buscrates is a producer from Pittsburgh who has been working as a solo artist and as a member of the group East Liberty Quarters over the last ten years. He’s released EPs and 7”s over the years, but we’ve never gotten a solo full-length album from him. That finally changes as releases Blasting Off. There are a lot of different ways for producers to approach solo albums, but for Blasting Off, Buscrates hops on the keyboards and drum machines as he delivers ten solid tracks of ‘80s electro-boogie goodness.

K1NG ELJAY & INKLINE - Kintsugi

K1NG ELJAY is an emcee/producer from Birmingham that has been going strong for about six years, with his most recent full-length, K1NG., coming out about two years ago. INKLINE is a emcee/producer formerly from Birmingham, now based in Denver, best known for his work in Nerves Baddington. Their last EP, Pretty Penny, also came out about two years ago. Now these two have come together, with Inkline on the beats and ELJAY on the rhymes, to release a joint EP, Kintsugi.

Vapor Eyes - In Pursuit of Magic

Vapor Eyes is a producer out of Chicago that has been putting out music for over a decade, blending the worlds of house and hip hop together. His last album came out about two years ago, when he released Smooth FM. Now he’s back with a new project, In Pursuit of Magic. It’s not that often that an artist’s own description is that spot on, but when Vapor Eyes described this project as a time traveler hopping back and forth between a ‘90s chill out room and a beat night at The Low End Theory and beaming these sounds back to present day, only the transmission gets choppy, so everything has to get reassembled into something new, it felt very spot on.

J-Live - Drawn Up

J-Live is a veteran hip hop triple threat (emcee/deejay/producer) who has been at this since the ‘90s. While his career hasn’t always panned out the way he thought it would in terms of success in the music business, he can be happy to know that true heads know and acknowledge that the dude has dropped some stone cold classics over the years, such as his brilliant 2015 album, How Much is Water?
