Hurricane Party - Juice

Hurricane Party is the new group consisting of emcee Bleubird, aka Young Lauderdale, and producer/multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Rickolus. Rickolus might not be as well known, but the Jacksonville Beach artist has been putting out music for over a decade and has produced for artists such as Astronautalis and Noah23. As you can imagine, when you’re making weird music in Florida, you tend to find each other as you run in the same circles, so in a lot of ways it feels like this collaboration was a long time coming.

DJ Uncle Fester & Ambition - KREAM 3D

DJ Uncle Fester and Ambition are both part of the Backburner crew out of Toronto/Halifax/Ottawa, and as such they have both contributed to roughly a million projects. Among other things, Fester teamed up with Fresh Kils to make up The Extremities, and Ambition teamed up with Jesse Dangerously just last year to form Library Steps. Now the two have gotten together to drop an old school mixtape, KREAM 3D. If you’re not familiar with either artist, it will become clear very quickly that these are two rap nerds who love their rap history.

Justjoey - World Is Home

You might now JustJoey under his former name, Lucid Optics, or through one of his collaborative projects like Lucid Logic or Modern Language. However, after years of not putting out a solo project, and just feeling like he was turning the page to the next chapter in his life, the San Jose musician felt like a new name that was closer to the chest was appropriate for his new project. Now he finally gets to start in on that phase with his first release under the new name, and EP called World Is Home.

Christopher Michael Jensen - Joy, Void, Destroy EP

Christopher Michael Jensen is an emcee from Minneapolis who has been going strong for about the past decade or so. His last album came about two years ago, when he dropped A New Age. Now he’s back with a new EP, Joy, Void, Destroy. While A New Age brought together the production of a lot of different artists, on Joy, Void, Destroy, Jensen is working solely with Minneapolis producer Infinity ~ Suites.

Yung Bae - Bae 5

Yung Bae is a producer from Portland, Oregon who has been releasing music for about five years now. Starting in 2014, he’s been releasing a series of albums called Bae. After taking last year off, Yung Bae now returns with Bae 5. If you read up on Yung Bae, you’re bound to come across buzz words like “Future Funk” and “Vaporwave.” Frankly, I don’t see the need to use terms like this, when what Yung Bae is really doing is just cooking up some killer disco-funk to get all y’all’s asses on the dance floor.

Air Credits - Wasteland Radio New Archives [Grey/429]

Air Credits is the Chicago duo of emcee Show You Suck and producer Hood Internet, who released their debut album, Broadcasted, back in 2016. Just last year, we saw them team up with emcee Sims and producer ICE-TEP to release the ambitious album, Arteria Verite. While other bigger projects are surely in the works, Air Credits gets back to its series of EPs, Wasteland Radio Archives, with the latest volume, [Grey/429].

Trox - Late 80's Baby

Trox is a producer from Portland, Oregon. You might not know the name yet, but he’s been making music for years now and has worked with artists such as Snoop Doog and Ab-Soul, just to name a couple. With all he’s accomplished, though, he hasn’t necessarily gotten that much shine, largely because most of his work has been behind the scenes. Hopefully that will begin to change with the release of his debut release for Fresh Selects, Late 80’s Baby.

Curta - [sic]

Curta is an emcee formerly based in Denver, now living in Chicago, who has been releasing music at a pretty steady pace over the last five years. Last year, we got a project from him called End of Future Park, which spoke to the messiness of the Denver scene. Now we get a project looking inward, [sic]. For this project, Curta works with longtime collaborator ManMadeMadMan, as he works his way through a complex and confusing time in his life in which he saw the end of a relationship, the sale of his house, a tour supporting his last project, and a looming move to Chicago.

Georgia Anne Muldrow - VWETO II

Georgia Anne Muldrow has been putting together one of the best and most varied musical careers since she started releasing music almost fifteen years ago. The Los Angeles-born, Las Vegas-based musician does it all, from singing to rapping to producing to playing instruments, all while covering a wide range of musical styles as well, moving from punk to gospel to house to hip hop and beyond. The last time we heard from her was just last October, when she made her Brainfeeder debut with Overload.

Daringer - Baker's Dozen

Daringer is a producer from Buffalo that has been making beats since about ‘05, helping craft the sound of Westside Gunn & Conway, along with Griselda Records. For all the work he has done, he doesn’t have that much solo material to his name. Well, that all changes now, since he was tapped to participate in Fat Beats’ Baker’s Dozen series of instrumental albums, the eleventh entry overall, and the first since Suff Daddy dropped his contribution last December.
