Madwreck is a producer from Charlotte, best known for his work as one-half of the production duo Dirty Art Club. In recent years, he’s remerged as a solo artist, with his most recent project, Newark Valley High, dropping just this past September. Now he’s back with another project, Fly Pose.

Dirty Art Club wasn’t known for necessarily being a groundbreaking group, but they did have a reputation for making some of the most stop-in-your-tracks beautiful beats that you could wish to hear. One listen to Fly Pose, and you can see where Madwreck contributed to that reputation, with eight absolutely gorgeous tracks that will just warm the soul. There is plenty of downtempo beats for you, but Madwreck is also leaning into R&B and electro-boogie in particular on this project. That said, it’s definitely more a Quiet Storm vibe than a party vibe. It’s an intimate affair to be sure. Of course, this isn’t just a beat tape, Madwreck is really developing the material and crafting these beautiful melodies that will stick with you as you lose yourself in his intoxicating production. It’s a project that sounds absolutely wonderful as you listen through your headphones, where you can escape from the world for just a minute and let Madwreck guide your imagination with his carefully constructed instrumental hip hop and just lose yourself within the beauty of the music.

Fly Pose isn’t anything that far outside the box, but when the instrumental hip hop is done this well and sounds so overwhelmingly beautiful, you don’t really care. Madwreck has a fantastic feel to his production, the kind that just envelops you as you listen and surrounds you like your favorite blanket. It’s an absolutely gorgeous project that will transport you away from your everyday doldrums.
