Lt. Headtrip is an artist originally from Ohio, and one of the founding members of The Karma Kids collective. We last heard from him this past November, when he dropped Steinway. Now he has teamed up with producer DOS4GW to drop a new album, Tap on the Glass.

DOS4GW is a producer from Melbourne, but he’s already made a name for himself in American indie hip hop, teaming up with artists like Curly Castro and Armand Hammer. In working with Lt. Headtrip, he’s bringing in some of his darkest and most experimental beats to date, creating this dystopian soundscape that comes on strong and just looms over the rest of the album. This fits Headtrip, who with his low, gruff voice and big personality feed off this energy and drops some of his most paranoid and sarcastic lyricism to date. This is not a fun summer album to throw on at the next party, this is an album for the end of all summers, when the black clouds roll in and you just want to yell by yourself in frustration with the world. Joining in on the end of days raps (and singing and scratches), we get appearances from Collasoul Structure, SKECH185, Teddy Faley, Samurai Banana, ELUCID, and Christina Pecce. Pecce in particular adds an interesting layer to the album as she contrasts Headtrips growls with this beautiful, operatic singing. It all comes together to create some of the grittiest, darkest underground hip hop of year.

Tap on the Glass is not for the weak of heart. Lt. Headtrip and DOS4GW have joined forces to make some hip hop for the days when your hope for humanity is at its lowest. It’s dark, loud, aggressive hip hop that confronts you from the first notes and then just doesn’t let up until its over.
