IAMNOBODI is a producer from Berlin who has been releasing music for about the last ten years. Part of that run included a few releases on Jakarta, including the excellent 2014 album, Snapshots From Berlin. Most recently, he gave us an EP in November of last year called Compass. Now he’s right back with Compass Vol. 2.

With Compass Vol. 2, IAMNOBODI is expanding upon the idea of his initial release, this time around giving us nine new tracks instead of four and labeling the release “Body Movin’ Exercises.” To that end, IAMNOBODI is giving us a really well-rounded collection of music to move our body to. Over the course of the album, we are getting house, electro-boogie, slow jams, instrumental hip hop, and more. The connective tissue here is that each track will get your body moving in a different fashion with different types of grooves, but because you are in the hands of a talented and experienced producer like IAMNOBODI, they are all of the highest quality. Not only that, but he’s putting in the work to create a real flow across all of these different tracks and subgenres, putting everything in conversation with each other and sequencing everything in just the right order. As a result, this is an album that is best listened to late at night with the speakers turned way up, and with floor cleared so that you can get that body moving.

Compass Vol. 2 seems simple enough on paper, but when you have an artist on the level of IAMNOBODI, you get so much more than what is promised. That’s because he’s been putting in the work for so long and he’s so genuinely invested in the music that when he gives you a nine-track project of dance music, you get something varied, complex, and interesting that you can also dance your ass off to while you’re listening to it.
