Evil Needle is a Berlin-born, Paris-based producer who has been releasing music for over a decade now. The last time we heard from him was a little over a year ago, when he dropped his album Abyssal. Now he comes back with an EP by the name of Igida.

The concept of Igida is a little broad and vague, as Evil Needle explains, “Igida explores how we tumble onto the hazards of life and the way we heal as a whole play without Dues Ex Machina. Each song indicates the stage people happen to go through to overcome and evidently, the irreversible trace it leaves.” Basically, this is an instrumental album about the way that adversity comes at us, and the stages in which we deal with it. What this means in practical terms is that the album begins with a very gentle tone to it, and then over the course of a few songs, things build to climax, and then comes to a peaceful resolve. Evil Needle is experienced enough to take his time with things, trust himself to work subtly on the quieter tracks, and then taking the time to build towards the climax so that by the time you get to the big drum hits and synths and bass lines, it feels earned, not forced. It’s really the care, the patience, and the way that Evil Needle does all of the little things that makes this EP such an intriguing listen. It’s just a six-song EP, but the way it’s constructed, it really feels like you’ve been on a journey by the time you listen to it all the way through.

Evil Needle is an experienced producer with a lot of music under his belt, and he approached this project with vision and the know-how to get it done right. His compositions are great as individual songs, but it’s really the way the EP comes together as a whole that makes Igida special.
