The Allergies are a production duo from Bristol who joined forces and started releasing music in 2012. With their love of breakbeats, funk, soul, and old school hip hop, it was no surprise when they started working with Andy Cooper from Ugly Duckling a few years back, who has now collaborated on several projects with them. They’ve been working at a steady pace since forming, with their last full-length album, Push On, coming out just a little over a year ago. They’ve now come back once again to keep the party going with Steal The Show.

You know, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and there’s nothing broken about the timeless formula that The Allergies are using on their albums. This is all about digging in the crates, finding the funkiest break beats, and flipping them into something fresh, and then inviting their friends to rhyme over these great beats. Sometimes you want something that’s going to push the envelope and do something really weird, and then other times you just want to get down and dance and feel joy and get sweaty on the dance floor. This is what The Allergies are for, and it’s what they bring on Steal The Show. From the moment you press play and the beat kicks in, it is on, and it doesn’t stop until the album ends. We get multiple appearances from Andy Cooper, but we also get spots from Dr. Syntax, Honey LaRochelle, ASM, Izo FitzRoy, Skunkadelic, and Uncle Frank, who all do a great job of rocking the crowd, raising the energy, and just having fun with it. It’s exactly the type of album that you’d expect from The Allergies at this point, with absolutely no low point across the whole thing.

There’s something to be said for consistency, and with The Allergies you know exactly what you’re getting each time out, and it’s tons of fun. Steal The Show is a an album that will both get the party started and keep it going all night long. It’s a funky good time from two producers who consistently find the best break beats to flip.
