Small Professor is a producer from Philly who’s been making quality hip hop for a minute now. Amongst his many projects, Small Pro is known for his series of instrumental releases of the “Jawn” varieties. This includes Queen Jawns, Chicago Jawns, Elderly Jawns, and of course, his latest, Nasty Jawns IV.

While Small Professor has already made three volumes of Nasty Jawns before, he had some specific inspiration going into this particular project, which was “Hot Sex,” by Blueprint. The track in question can be found on Blueprint’s 2004 instrumental album, Chamber Music, and features some Richard Pryor standup about sex over some moody instrumental hip hop, which then transitions into a jazzier sound as the standup gives way to audio samples of people having sex. Now, there aren’t any Pryor clips to be found on Nasty Jawns IV, but you will find eight tracks that follow the formula of the second half of “Hot Sex.” This is all to say that this particular release if full of jazz, soul, and R&B-sampling instrumental hip hop that would have already sounded like sexy slow jams, and then have the tone heightened by including audio clips of people having sex. There’s nothing too gratuitous, no conversation or dirty talk or anything else, just enough for your ears to recognize what they are hearing. Small Professor is a talented producer, and he knows how to set the tone just right, and he gives you just enough variety and develops his compositions well enough to give you a complete listening experience, making sure that this isn’t just a gimmick release.

Small Professor has kept his “Jawn” series going for quite a while now, and Nasty Jawns IV is one of the standouts of the series. This is strictly for the grown and sexy, so proceed with caution.
