Sleep Sinatra is an artist from Lincoln Nebraska who has been releasing music for over a decade now. In that time, in addition to his own beats, he’s worked with such producers as Ohbliv, The Architect, and August Fanon. His most recent project was an EP with The Architect, Battle of the Angelz, which came out just this past March. Now he’s back with a new project, P.T.G. (Post Traumatic Growth).

While Sinatra often works with one producer on a project, this time around he’s working with a myriad of different artists, including Aasir, Killer Kane, Baelei.P, Hajino One, The Historian, Thxk_u, KlwnKat, and Stu Bangas. As a result, we get an album that balances between beats that are playful and have a bounce to them and those that come hard and gritty, with a midtempo pace. This in turn lets us get a well-rounded view of Sleep Sinatra as an emcee, who is delivering songs on the theme of “post traumatic growth,” or the idea that positive psychological change can come after traumatic events. It’s an interesting concept with a lot of room for discussion, and Sinatra is giving you plenty of his own personal narrative as he unpacks this idea over the course ten songs, especially framing things in terms of how he’s trying to break cycles and provide a better world for his kids to grow up in. As a result, this is an album that you definitely want to sit with and let Sinatra’s narrative sink in over the course of a few listens. It’s a really personal and passionate album that clearly means a lot to Sinatra.

P.T.G. (Post Traumatic Growth) a nice project from Sleep Sinatra. It’s got a complex thesis statement built into the title, and the music rises to the challenge over the course of ten tracks. It’s an emotional journey from start to finish.
