Sinitus Tempo is a producer from Mount Ranier, Maryland who is more than a decade into his recording career. Over those years, he’s mostly worked as a solo artist, focused on some beautiful instrumental music. Most recently, we heard from him in November of last year, when he dropped Discovery EP. Now he’s back with a new full-length album, XXXIII.

Now, you can read into the title and the release date of this album if you want to, but XXXIII isn’t overtly an “Easter” album in that it’s not hitting you over the head with Christian messaging or gospel music or anything like that. That isn’t to say there’s nothing there at all, but you can enjoy this music on whatever level you want to engage with it. Overall, it’s full of beautiful and soulful downtempo music, with the symphonic neo-soul of the opening track, “Sea Side Love,” setting the tone. “Black Love,” sees Sinitus Tempo finding room to work in some Latin Jazz to his sound, with some great interplay between upright bass, drums, piano, and sax. “No Matter” is the lone track with a guest artist, and vocalist Sabriel slides in effortlessly alongside Sinitus Tempo’s production, delivering the standout single of the album. Their chemistry is fantastic, and Sabriel has great instincts with her melodies and her hooks, and the way she builds into the chorus with her dynamics is absolutely fantastic and really draws you into her world. Throughout the rest of the album, Sinitus Tempo is drawing upon his love of jazz, R&B, hip hop, and even classical guitar, and filtering it all through this downtempo lens, giving you these really well-crafted and soulful songs that make for some really peaceful and meditative listening experiences.

XXXIII is another solid instrumental album from a veteran producer in Sinitus Tempo. He gives you a lot of what you already expect out of him, but he also finds some room to shake things up a little. It’s a well-composed, balanced album that’s solid from start to finish.
