Keor Meteor - The Last Jedi of Adelphi - The Lost Files of Keor Meteor
Written by Chi Chi Thalken on January 9, 2019The Last Jedi of Adelphi is a project that first came to light in July of 2018, when emcees Kaotic Rawkus and Jack Wilson got together to make an old school mixtape, just trading rhymes over dope beats. Now the sequel is here, and this time they’ve enlisted the help of French producer Keor Meteor.
Keor Meteor is an interesting producer who has always got a few projects on the burners, whether it be beat tapes like I-40, which served as an imaginary score to the show Ozark, or one of his most recent projects, Central Service. That project, which featured some great off-kilter boom bap built around jazz, soul, and orchestral samples, also featured a preview of sorts to this project when Jack Wilson guests on the track “Ralphy.” This is all to say that The Last Jedi of Adelphi – The Lost Files of Keor Meteor is all about some great boom bap that is just left of center, which is right up Wilson and Rawkus’s alley. The two emcees just have fun jumping on the beats that Meteor is laying down and trading rhymes. We also get some notable guest spots from Warren Britt and Walky Ken Wah, who both have a ton of fun jumping on and leaving their mark on the project. The whole thing is the type of project you heard all the time back in the ‘90s, when a mixtape meant emcees hopping on someone’s beats, not trying to make a fully formed song, just spitting raw and having fun with it. That’s what we get here, and it’s just a lot of fun to listen to. These two emcees have great chemistry together, and Keor Meteor is a top notch producer.
It’s a time-tested formula on The Last Jedi of Adelphi – The Lost Files of Keor Meteor, but it’s one that doesn’t get used enough anymore. I’m sure more fully formed projects are on the way from all involved, but in the meantime, enjoy some raw hip hop that’s all about having fun and making music.
