Anzola is a Venezuela-born/Toronto-based musician who made his debut on URBNET in 2020 with the release of his EP, Caracas. After teasing us with a couple of singles in 2021, Anzola is now back with his new EP, Bodega.

Since the release of Caracas, Anzola spent much of his time in pandemic lockdown in Toronto, which inspired him to really dive into rebuilding his home studio. This in turn led him to play a lot with the layout of different gear, which as any musician can tell you, will in turn affect the way that you interact with the equipment and combine tools and effects. For Bodega, that meant that Anzola played a lot with the interaction between his synths and the manipulation of loops, but he also worked on the fluidity of blending rhythms. The result of all of this experimentation and work is an EP that incredibly easy and fun to listen to. Basically, Anzola put in the work to make it sound effortless. Across six tracks, he’s giving you some really terrific late night grooves that seamlessly move back and forth between house and downtempo. What holds them together is not only the clever rhythmic patterns that give way into each other, but the beautiful layers of synths, the warm and thumping bass lines, and the memorable melodies. It all comes together to create this EP that is full of infectious grooves that are developed really well.

Bodega is one of those releases that is just so inviting to listen to, it will immediately sneak its way into your listening rotation. It will make the perfect soundtrack to you next late night escapade.
